Massachusetts hits a new record with sports betting revenues
Since the legalization of sports betting in 2023, Massachusetts has seen significant wagering activity, specifically in October 2024.
According to the Gaming Commission, sportsbooks and mobile betting applications generated approximately $735 million betting online and $13.1 million at retail sportsbooks across the state. This is a new record number for the state.
The biggest contributor to the revenues is online betting, with 9.7 million in tax revenue.
DraftKings
DraftKings keeps holding the crown in Massachusetts’ online segment with its $24.5 million in taxable revenue from $383.4 million in bets, with a 6.39% hold.
FanDuel
FanDuel comes next, bringing in $15.1 million from $215.5 million in bets, with a 7.01% hold.
BetMGM
Bet MGM secured the third place, earning $3.5 million from $49.7 million in wagers, keeping a hold of 7.04%
Fanatics
Fanatics posted $2 million in revenue from $35.2 million in bets, holding at 5.68%.
ESPN Bet
ESPN Bet brought in $1.5 million from $25 million, with a hold of 6%.
Retail market
In the retail market. MGM Springfield was the only operator to record a profit, earning $5,286 from $1.5 million in bets with a 0.34% hold.
Casinos in Massachusetts
Massachusetts’ three traditional gambling venues brought in just over $94.2 million in gross gaming revenue during October. This is about $36.6 million in state taxes. Slots revenue increased $66.3 million for the month, with table games at $27.9 million.
