Massachusetts sports getting up 57% in June

Compared to last year, this year there is a rise of sports betting activities in Massachusetts by some challenges experienced in the retail industry.
According to a recent report by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the total amount bet on sports games was $509.4 million which is about 57.5% more than that for June 2023 which stands at $323.5 million.
Massachusetts saw a decline of 13.3% in betting in June 2024 to $500.7 million, the lowest it has been since August 2023. Online betting remained popular compared to which retail betting was minimal or less common.

Online betting yielded $41.0 million but retail betting caused a loss of $588,965 with the latter being the biggest contributor to the state’ revenues through taxes although most were from online betting. DraftKings revenue was at $19.3 million while FanDuel revenue was at $16.5 million and that of BetMGM at $2.3 million
In July, Bally Bet came into existence as the 7th online betting choice. The total casino gaming takings stood at 4.5% lower than the previous year, which was equal to $96.1 million.
Slot machines managed to rake in $66.2 million compared to tables which barely scraped $29.9 million from their patrons’ pockets. From that amount, the government took $27.3 million as taxes and the largest share of $60.4 million came via Encore Boston Harbor.
