MGCB targets illegal operators with eight cease-and-desist letters
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) sent cease-and-desist letters to eight companies that are thought to be involved in illegal online casino operations.
Through these actions the MGCB is ensuring that the player safety while also permitting only properly licensed operators to offer gambling services within the state.
The operators that received the notices are Aussie Play, CryptoGames, FortuneJack, Hugewin Casino, My Stake Casino, Play at Harry’s Casino, RuneChat, and Slots Garden. The MGCB revealed that these operators were providing services to the residents of Michigan without having the required state licenses, which constitutes a direct breach of Michigan’s gaming laws.
Henry Williams, the executive director at the MGCB, said:
“These unauthorized websites often appear sophisticated and legitimate, but they operate outside of Michigan law. When players gamble on unlicensed platforms, they’re putting their money and personal information at serious risk. The MGCB will not hesitate to intervene when we find operators ignoring our state’s gambling laws.”
Williams went on to emphasized that illegal operators threaten the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming market and endanger consumers. He reaffirmed that anyone wishing to operate in the state’s gaming industry must follow the rules and obtain the proper license.
