Mike Tyson faces legal action over online casino deal
Michael Gerard Tyson, an American former professional boxer, is in legal trouble after a fallout with Medier, a Cyprus-based company that owns the online casino brand Rabona.
Medier is suing Tyson for $1.59 million, claiming that he abandoned their agreement to promote the online casino brand Rabona. According to the company, Tyson received more than $800,000 for the promotion. Moreover, almost $729,000 was invested in marketing campaigns, and Tyson’s sudden withdrawal left their online casino promotion in uncertainty with significant wasted resources.
As a response, Tyson’s legal team disputes the claims, stating the termination was lawful. According to them, Medier repeatedly violated the agreement conditions and misused promotional materials, going beyond what was allowed in the contract, causing harm to Tyson’s reputation.
Tyson’s legal team said in a statement:
“Medier materially breached the terms of its agreement with Tyrannic multiple times by exceeding the scope of the restricted license that was granted, causing financial and reputational damage to the company and Mr. Tyson.”
Medier, however, believes the real reason for Tyson’s exit was the $20 million he earned from his Netflix-sponsored fight with Paul. The company claims the fight announcement, made in March, coincided with Tyson’s sudden decision to end their partnership. This case shows that high-profile partnerships in the gambling industry are not safe from risks.
