Nepal police arrest Casino Waldo chair for gambling fraud
Chan Min Ching, chair of Waldo Dynasty Entertainment, which operates the Casino Waldo in Kathmandu, was arrested by Nepal police for gambling fraud at the venue.
A representative from the police, Pawan Bhattarai, stated that four Indians and two Nepali nationals were also arrested earlier at the casino for cheating. Police reports show that the group placed dummy players with contact lenses and chips in the cards.
The use of contact lenses might suggest that cards were marked with infrared ink, but the additional involvement of chips also points to embedded microchips or RFID-style components being used in the scam.
In Ching’s case, formal charges haven’t been filed yet, but Nepalese law allows suspects to be held while the police obtain court approval.
Aside from his role at Casino Waldo, there is little to no information about Ching or Waldo Dynasty Entertainment. Corporate searches provide no evidence on the company’s ownership structure or Ching’s previous roles. There are also no company statements or media archives related to its operations.
This is, however, common for Nepal’s casino industry, as corporate records are hard to access and foreign executives choose to keep a low profile.
