New BetMGM betting violations uncovered in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) conducted research initiated by BetMGM, to check the company’s compliance with the state rules.
BetMGM is a partnership between Entain Holdings and MGM Resorts that revolutionizes sports betting and online gaming in the United States. Offering both land-based and online casino experiences, BetMGM launched its official app in 2018.
After mistakenly allowing prohibited prop bets on college football games and professional soccer matches, BetMGM hired Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) to conduct new research led by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to check its compliance with the betting regulations of the state.
During the research, GLI uncovered the following ‘non-compliant’ bets:
- One hundred and six bets were placed between 8 June 2024 and 17 June 2024 on Glory Kickboxing events;
- Thirteen college-player props on college basketball;
- Forty-one more college-player props on college football;
- Twelve college-player props on two women’s Elite Eight college basketball games on 1 April 2024.
The issue is that college-player prop bets are not allowed in Massachusetts, and Glory Kickboxing is not allowed in the betting market.
BetMGM revenues
For Q2, BetMGM reported a remarkable $113.8 million in revenue, while the Q1 results were $10.2 million. Talking about its employees, BetMGM announced that 43% of its employees were minorities, reflecting a 2% rise from the previous quarter, while 36% were women, an increase of 1%.
Responsible gaming
BetMGM announced that the company did not detect any underage users on its platforms during the second quarter. Despite the slight increase in the time and deposit limit tools, BetMGM saw a decline in the spending limits.
