New KSA warnings: match-fixing risks

Four warnings have been sent to operators by the Dutch gambling regulator after a random risk analysis revealed the potential for match-fixing.

At the beginning of 2024, the KSA released new guidelines for operators on how to prevent match-fixing. As a result, a follow-up investigation was started by KSA.

The request for risk analyses on a certain fixture in a foreign competition was made by KSA to various license holders as part of the investigation.

The regulator said:

“In four cases, the associated analysis appeared not to have been carried out correctly and/or not interpreted correctly.”

All four providers included in the case have been warned by KSA. Going ahead, supply analysis will remain an important aspect of the certification process to ensure compliance with legal standards, he added.

By issuing warnings and planning ongoing random checks, the KSA aims to reduce the risks associated with match-fixing and uphold the legal framework governing the industry.
