Ontario adds centralized iGaming self-exclusion tool in 2026
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is preparing for the launch of iGaming Ontario’s Centralized Self-Exclusion (CSE) program scheduled for 2026.
The amended regulations will allow players to exclude themselves from gambling platforms through a single registration process, as there will be no need to complete separate exclusions with every operator.
The program’s goal is to reduce the steps that players who seek to self-exclude from betting have to take and provide uniform safeguards in the gambling market.
The AGCO stated:
“Our standards aim to minimize the risk of harm and protect vulnerable individuals while supporting responsible access to safer, regulated online gaming.”
Operators will be obligated to participate in the program, promote it on their platforms, and honor both existing and newly self-excluded individuals.
iGaming Ontario will be responsible for administering the CSE program and supporting the Centralized Self-Exclusion Registry. The CSE system will offer exclusion periods of six months, one year, and five years.
Once a player activates self-exclusion, operators must stop sending ads, incentives, or promotions within the next 24 hours. Outstanding wagers must also be cancelled and refunded.
Additionally, operators may only grant access to existing players if it can be confirmed that the person was not centrally self-excluded during the time of the registry check.
