Pennsylvania’s casino revenue hits $533.1M for December 2024

Pennsylvania, the fifth-most populous state in the United States, reported its casino revenues for December 2024, highlighting an increase of 0.2% when compared to December 2023.
However, the number is still not reaching November 2024’s revenue,, which was a record for the state.
iGaming
iGaming took the crown with $223.6 million in revenues. This is an impressive 35.5% increase from December 2023 and an 11.5% rise from November’s record.
Online slots
Online slots generated $164.3 million, which is more than 40.5% when compared to the same period of 2023. Table games come next with a 24.2% increase, while online poker saw an increase of only 2.9% to $2.5 million. Player spending on online slots and table games totaled $7.29 billion, showing the market’s significant growth. Hollywood Casino at Penn National kept its dominance with $86.4 million in revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino ($61.3 million) and Rivers Casino Philadelphia ($35.2 million).
Sports betting
For sports betting, December was a challenging month. Revenue climbed 69.9% year-on-year to $21.9 million, showing declines when compared to the neighboring states. A 2.45% hold statewide was impacted by player-friendly outcomes. FanDuel maintained its market lead, generating $14.1 million in revenue from $353.3 million in bets.
Land-based gambling
Land-based gambling also saw declines, with land-based slot revenue down 2.7% to $202.1 million and table games dipping 4.3% to $79.4 million. Despite mixed results, Pennsylvania collected $223.7 million in gambling taxes, showcasing the industry’s continued importance to the state’s economy.
