Spillemyndigheden tightens compliance for game suppliers

Starting July 1, 2025, game suppliers in Denmark will need to independently file regulatory compliance paperwork under Spillemyndigheden’s updated certification policies.
Previously, gambling license holders took care of compliance documentation on behalf of their suppliers. However, according to the new regulation, both gaming operators and their game suppliers must file separate reports. This new regulatory update comes with a six-month transition period so businesses can adapt.
Spillemyndigheden explains that the revised regulation provides “more clarity for all relevant shareholders,” reinforcing strict responsibilities for operators and suppliers. Businesses operating in both game development and B2C services will face dual compliance requirements, needing two separate certifications to meet the new standards.
This isn’t the only regulatory update from Denmark. In late 2024, the country announced the debut of land-based bingo licenses, opening applications to both local and international operators. With all these updates, Denmark is positioned to secure its name as a country where the gambling industry is always under control.
