Richards confirmed the move on LinkedIn on November 2, 2026, saying he had stepped down in October. His time at GiG, which began in July 2024, covered the company’s initial public offering and its purchase of an 80% stake in 888AFRICA.
Phil Richards stated:
“It has been a period of real change for GiG, and one of which I’m immensely proud of. I leave the business in excellent hands and will be following its progress closely.”
Before GiG, Richards spent almost six years at Kambi, where he served as group financial controller and senior vice president of finance. He has also worked at Corero Network Security, Shell, and KPMG.
His exit follows GiG Software’s third-quarter results, which showed revenue down 12% to €8.5 million, while the net loss for the first nine months widened to €16.9 million. On the earnings call, Richards said more than 25% of the workforce had been cut and that further cost savings would follow. GiG expects its 2027 revenue to roughly double this year’s figure, helped by the 888AFRICA deal.
