Sarah Fox to join UKGC as Executive Director

The UK Gambling Commission has announced that Sarah Fox, a senior leader from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS), will join the regulatory body’s Executive Team to lead its Policy and Research and Statistics functions.

In addition to the listed position, Fox will also lead the National Lottery regulation, with her temporary appointment coming after UKGC Executive Director Tim Miller announced his departure in June 2026.

CEO of the UKGC, Sarah Gardner, commented:

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Sarah’s experience joining us. The Commission has an ambitious strategy so having someone who is already working across the gambling and lotteries sector will be invaluable.”

Fox is set to join the regulator after leading the gambling and lotteries team at the DCMS for the past 4 years, having covered the implementation of the gambling white paper and the transition to the fourth National Lottery license.

Fox stated:

“Over the last four years I’ve seen first-hand the work of the Commission, and the expertise, talent and enthusiasm of its teams. So much has been achieved over a time that has been significant for the gambling sector and everyone with an interest in it.”

Previously, Fox held roles in the Department of Health and Social Care, the Cabinet Office, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, bringing over 23 years of professional experience.
