Skrill and Neteller to stop processing online gambling payments

Skrill and Neteller, two of the most well-known online wallets, have announced to merchants that they will no longer be processing online gambling payments across Norway. Any deposits going to gambling merchants in Norway will be stopped by both e-wallets. The change came into effect on the 8th of December 2020, already impacting both players and affiliates.

Norwegian players have been utilizing these two e-wallets for secure payments at online casinos and sports betting sites for years, since they were the most trustworthy ones available. This leaves players in a scuffle to find an alternative payment provider if they wish to keep depositing and betting at gaming sites. ecoPayz is now the only viable alternative to these two e-wallets, and is currently accepted at online casinos and sports betting sites across the world.

To put it in context, Norwegian wallet account holders will be able to conduct personal money transfers, non-gambling transactions and ATM withdrawals as part of the service. They will also be able to make use of Paysafe’s e-wallet crypto services.

Affiliates were told to update content within their sites in order to reflect the changes and to make sure that their content and instructional messaging is correctly informing customers about the most recent rules and regulations within the region.

The change has of course already come into effect as of the 8th of December. However, the deadline for payouts from gambling merchants is still set to the 21st of December. After this date, Norwegians will no longer be able to cash out their funds to their e-wallet accounts.
