Spain gets ready for iGaming growth peak in 2026

Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights has released a new report, highlighting a 21.6% rise in active online gamblers over the previous year, citing “welcome bonuses” as the main fuel to the growth.

Between 2020 and 2023, Spain had strict rules around gambling advertisements, limiting certain marketing offers with the 2020 law on gambling ads. At that time, this approach significantly dropped the number of new gambling accounts.

However, 2024 reversed everything and drove more than €8.1 billion to the country’s economy when operators spent almost €526 million on marketing, including €261 million on promotions. Moreover, only in Q3 2024, Spain recorded $366.3 million in revenue.

Now, in 2025, the report includes regional data for the first time, giving officials better insights into local trends. The goal?

Turning high engagement numbers into balanced regulation.

There are now around 1.43 million active online gambling accounts each month, which is almost a 23.5% increase. New sign-ups are also up by almost 35%, averaging 152,000 per month.
