Spain’s DGOJ bans 14 illegal operators for two years

Spain’s gambling regulator, the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ), has taken severe action against unlicensed operators, fining 14 companies €77.4 million ($87.5 million).

DGOJ is committed to ensuring that Spain is not on the list of countries with illegal gambling practices. Despite strict restrictions, Spain reports iGaming growth, causing the regulator to strengthen its oversight. This time, DGOJ fined the following companies:

Adonio, Chestoption, FGS Software, Group Gaem, Investan, Lama Tech, Magicwin Games Tech, Mibs, Pennytech, Spicyjackpots, Techsolutions, Tinietech, Winbet, and Wot.

Most of these companies received fines of around €5 million each. Moreover, one of the companies faced a €10 million fine for more severe violations. Together with the fines, these companies have been banned from the Spanish iGaming market for the next two years.

According to the DGOJ spokesperson, DGOJ will continue to act decisively against those who put Spanish players at risk or attempt to undermine the regulated market.

Earlier this year, the DGOJ organized an anti-money laundering meeting to address concerns over potential illegal activities within the market. The regulator also highlighted the dangers of identity theft in iGaming, urging operators to adopt stricter ID requirements.
