Spelinspektionen is not going to appeal the Linköping Administrative Court’s verdict regarding Betsson’s penalty fees.

In 2020, the Swedish company filed a complaint in opposition to the Betsson Group, alleging that the latter had performed voucher sales via non-registered gambling representatives, obtaining illegal payments, which is a violation of the Gaming Act.

However, in the beginning of June this year, the Swedish court of appeal publicized the verdict that the transactions that concerned Betsson were in fact not illegal, and no evidence of the group getting unauthorized payment was found.

Moreover, the court discharged the notion that the bonuses the group provided to its Mastercard owners were illegal.

As a result of the verdict, the primary report by Spelinspektionen was nullified. The latter chose not to appeal the final decision any further.

Just a few days before the Betsson situation, the Swedish group had issued another one of the same court’s decisions, regarding the diminution of Aspire Global’s penalties.
