Sports betting decline drives Danish gambling market down in June

Denmark’s gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, has reported a 17% year-on-year drop in gambling spend for June 2025.

The decline comes after a strong June in 2024, which coincided with the European Football Championship, a factor widely believed to explain much of the sharp fall in betting activity in 2025.

Sports betting took the biggest hit, falling 53.5% compared to the same month last year.

In contrast, online casinos, recorded a 10% rise in spend, while land-based venues saw more or less modest declines, with casino revenue down 2.2% and slot machines declining 6.5%.
