Thailands’s casino plan attracts 6 major operators

The Thai government’s move to legalize and regulate casino complexes has captured the attention of six major industry giants.
While no company has officially disclosed its name, Genting Malaysia, Galaxy Entertainment, and MGM Resorts are rumored to be eyeing this opportunity.
Melco Resorts is already making moves and planning to open an office in Bangkok. Their global presence in destinations like Cyprus and Macau highlights their serious interest in Thailand’s growing market.
Gambling to boost Thai economy
The new law isn’t just about gambling. The Thai Cabinet’s approval of the draft Entertainment Complex Business Act is a strategic step towards creating world-class tourist destinations. However, casinos will take up just 5% of these massive complexes, which are set to feature luxury hotels, theme parks, sports arenas, and high-end shopping. These could advance Thailand’s economy, potentially boosting the GDP by 0.7% and creating 20,000 jobs.
iGaming to come next
Thailand is also considering legalizing online gambling, aiming to create a $2.89 billion market. With Japan’s Osaka resort, Thailand is moving fast to secure its place in Asia’s entertainment industry.
