Wynn Resorts faces $1.5M ransom demand from hackers
Wynn Resorts is facing a cyberattack and ransom demand of $1.5 million, as the criminals have set the deadline for payment as March 2, 2026, threatening to release 800,000 stolen records from the Las Vegas resort’s computers.
ShinyHunters, a computer hacking extortion group, made contact with Wynn on February 20, 2026, threatening to leak the company’s employees’ full names, emails, phone numbers, positions, salaries, start dates, birthdays, and other personal information. There is no proof that the hackers stole guest or customer data.
It’s possible that the intrusion started in September 2025, when ShinyHunters found a weakness in Wynn’s Oracle PeopleSoft software with the help of stolen employee credentials.
Wynn hasn’t yet confirmed the breach or shown evidence of paying the ransom; however, the cyberhackers shared small samples to prove that the attack is real.
The incident has already led to a negative reaction, as California resident Richard Reed filed a class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Nevada against Wynn Resorts, accusing the company of negligence and failing to protect personal information.
This cyberattack is the fifth case of criminals targeting Las Vegas casino companies and their systems, including Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts, Boyd Gaming, and the Oyo Las Vegas hotel.
It’s believed that ShinyHunters is connected to Scattered Spider, the organization that took credit for breaching MGM’s system in 2023.
