Wynn Resorts to postpone Al Marjan casino resort opening

As a result of the ongoing regional conflict, Wynn Resorts is considering postponing the official opening of the $5.1 billion worth Al Marjan casino resort in the UAE.

The initial launch of the resort was scheduled for Spring 2027, but construction work was stopped when the conflict first started, and later continued in March 2026. However, reports from Bloomberg suggest that the drone attacks and missiles in the Ras Al Khaimah area have slowed down the process, which has led to additional delays in the opening date. For context, the venue is located around 50 miles from Dubai International Airport.

The company had also announced plans to hire 2,700 employees before the official launch, with the number increasing to 3,000 by December 2026, but the Middle East conflict has created uncertainty around safety issues.

The casino resort is expected to be the first one in the region, and it’s being developed in collaboration with Wynn and partners Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding. The project aligns with the move in the area towards diversifying the entertainment and hospitality sector. Additionally, MGM Resorts International is also building a hotel in Dubai.

While the attacks have caused delays in the construction process, Wynn’s stock has still increased by 3.2% over the past month.
