ACMA blocks four more illegal gambling websites
The ACMA, or the Australian Communications and Media Authority, has ordered all internet service providers in the country to block an additional four illegal gambling websites who have been running illegal operations in Australia.
The websites are Pokie Place, Ozwin Casino, Bao Casino and Reels of Joy who have been investigated by the ACMA once it came into various complaints regarding them. The authority revealed that all of these websites were breaching the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 and went on to ask all ISPs to block them.
ACMA further noted:
“Website blocking provides a valuable opportunity to alert the public to illegal gambling services through the messaging that appears when there is an attempt to access the site. ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, its unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.”
The ACMA made its first ever blocking request in November of 2019, and since then, about 263 iGaming sites have been blocked with 130 entirely pulled out of the market ever since the ACMA imposed a set of new illegal offshore gambling rules.
Last month, the authority also asked ISPs to block 10 sites which included Aussie Play, Golden Reels, Play Croco and others…
