AGCO fines two operators CA$30k for offering illegal bets

AGCO has recently issued a penalty of 30 thousand Canadian dollars to Fitzdares and BV Gaming.

The two operators, which received fines of 15 thousand Canadian dollars each, were issued the penalty for offering wagering opportunities on several minor league hockey championships, which is prohibited in the province of Ontario. The law is aimed at ensuring sports and wagering integrity in the region.

AGCO stated that the companies were allegedly offering wagering opportunities for three of the country’s popular minor hockey leagues, the WHL, the OHL, and the QMJHL, which take place annually in various provinces across the country.

The COO of AGCO, Dave Phillips, commented:

“As Ontario’s sports wagering and gambling regulatory authority, it is our duty to maintain a high standard of integrity for the province’s wagering sector, which also helps us ensure the integrity of our national sports. This mission entails a prohibition on wagering on all minor league championships, including the hockey leagues that were involved in our latest penalty.”

Last week, AGCO received an award from NAGRA, celebrating its regulatory efforts and excellent performance over the course of the past year. Learn more about the award here.
