The Colombian gambling regulator, Coljuegos, destroyed more than 150 illegal gaming items in the country.

Coljuegos is the state-authorised regulator of Colombia in terms of both land-based and online gambling. The regulator has taken decisive action by shutting down two establishments found to be involved in illegal gaming activities.

During its investigation in Cali, the regulator banned a total of 153 items, 103 of which were electronic slot machines and 53 were unauthorized internet betting modules.

The president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, said:

“We continue to achieve results against illegality in the industry. This is one of the largest operations that Coljuegos has carried out in this area of the country. We estimate that these elements stopped transferring at least COP23.746m (£4,238) annually for the health of Colombians.”

No previous administration of Coljuegos has followed illegality in the industry with such efficiency.

Earlier this year, Colombia also got rid of more than 2000 illegal gaming products. From the total 2,042 destroyed items, 1,852 were taken during inspections by Coljuegos since October 2023, and 190 were stopped in 2022. These items included electronic slot machines, roulette wheels, chairs, and bingo boards.
