Entain to expand in New Zealand’s iGaming market
Entain has announced plans to expand into New Zealand’s online casino market as the company is preparing to bid for three licenses when the government opens applications later in 2026.
By obtaining three licenses, Entain aims to improve its customer base and product offerings to further strengthen its position in New Zealand. Andrew Vouris, CEO of Entain, expressed that the company’s current presence and experience already set it up for success.
At the moment, Entain operates as the exclusive license holder for online sports and racing betting in New Zealand, where the company’s achievements are visible from the 28% year-on-year growth.
Vouris stated:
“We’re going to be the only operator in the market that’s able to offer sports, racing, and potentially casinos. That is massive.”
In 2023, Entain and TAB New Zealand made a 25-year agreement to offer onshore betting in order to prevent unlicensed operators from providing betting services. The company’s initiative to expand into iGaming has coincided with the government’s decision to issue 15 online casino licenses by December 2026.
With the announcement, competitor SkyCity Entertainment Group also showed interest in providing iGaming in New Zealand and noted that it plans to become the trusted local leader in the online casino industry.
