Evoke acquires Winner.ro with a $11.1 million deal
Evoke has acquired Romanian operator Winner.ro with a $11.1 million deal.
Evoke plc, formerly known as 888 Holdings Limited, is an international gambling and sports betting company founded in 1997. The company already owns famous brands such as 888poker, 888sport, Mr. Green, William, and 888casino and already operates in Denmark, the UK, Spain, and Italy. Evoke targets Romania this time, making it its fifth core market.
Earlier this year, Evoke’s 888 license in Romania was suspended for 48 hours. And now, with this deal, the company plans to merge its new acquisition, Winner.ro, with its already existing brand, 888casino. Winner.ro will bring its 80 employees into Evoke’s 500-strong workforce based in Romania; however, the deal will not change the company’s CEO, who has been on board since 2023.
Winner.ro CEO, Nicklas Zajdel, commented on the deal:
“Romania is a high-growth market, and this combination sets us on the path to a sustainable, profitable, market-leading position. This is an incredibly exciting transaction, bringing together our local-hero brand with one of the world’s strongest international casino brands.”
Evoke CEO Per Widerström said:
“This acquisition is consistent with our strategy to build sustainable market-leading profitable positions in the most attractive markets.”
The acquisition is planned to take place later this year, with a predicted revenue growth of 5–9%.
