Evolution settles $6.4M UKGC case over illegal content supply
Evolution has agreed to pay $6.4 million in a UK Gambling Commission settlement after the provider was found to have supplied its content to 2 operators that offered the company’s products without holding local licenses.
The UKGC review was first launched back in 2024, which identified that Evolution had breached its terms of supply, allowing 2 illegal operators to offer the supplier’s content on 6 websites targeting British users.
Evolution shared in a statement:
“Evolution has fully cooperated with the Commission consistent with its longstanding approach to regulatory engagement. The company routinely takes technical, legal, and commercial action to identify, address, and prevent unauthorized access to its content. The commercial relationships with the two operators whose websites offered Evolution content that may have been accessed by British consumers were terminated immediately upon discovery.”
The supplier additionally said that no other cases of illegal access to its content in the UK were identified during the 18-month review period.
CEO of Evolution, Martin Carlesund, added:
“At Evolution, we always want to do what is right, and it is not acceptable that six unlicensed sites offered Evolution content in the regulated UK market. We welcome the conclusion of the review and remain focused on continuing to supply our world-leading games to licensed operators in the UK.”
The case concludes at a time when the rise of the illegal gambling market in the UK continues to be one of the biggest challenges for the Gambling Commission.
