iGaming drives New Jersey’s $6.3B gaming revenue in 2024

New Jersey’s gaming revenue hit $6.3 billion in 2024, up 9% from the previous year, driven by iGaming growth.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported that iGaming revenue reached $2.38 billion in 2024, up 24% from 2023, adding $463.4 million. Sports betting also , generating $1.094 billion, an 8.7% increase from $1.01 billion in 2023.

However, December saw sportsbook revenue drop 43% year-over-year to $62.8 million, as many bettors profited from the Eagles’ strong run. Atlantic City’s physical casinos faced challenges in 2024, with the nine properties reporting $2.81 billion in revenue from slots and table games, a $30.4 million drop (1.1%) from the previous year.

James Plousis, chairman of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, noted that 2024 marked the second-highest revenue year since 2013. He also highlighted $602.6 million in state taxes that support seniors and disabled residents.

Slot machine income in Atlantic City declined slightly to $2.1 billion, a 0.7% fall, while table game revenue fell 2% to $731.4 million. Borgata maintained its dominance, posting $738.1 million in in-person revenue, a 1.2% increase from the previous year. Hard Rock followed with $544.9 million, a 6% gain, while Ocean came in third with $409.7 million, a 1.3% decrease.

Harrah’s experienced the greatest reduction, with revenue dropping 12% to $223.8 million.Bally’s reported a 6% dip to $145.4 million, while Caesars and Tropicana had 5% drops, earning $218.4 million and $228 million, respectively. Resorts Casino Hotel saw a 1% decline to $161.9 million. Golden Nugget was a bright spot, up 0.7% to $147.1 million.

iGaming generated $228 million in revenue in December 2024 alone, a 26.5% increase from the same month in 2023.
