KSA urges public to report illegal gambling apps

The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) is calling for reports on any suspicious gambling apps in the App Store or Play Store.

In the Netherlands, illegal gambling companies mimic legal platforms, using familiar logos like Holland Casino’s to trick people and attract them to their apps. Moreover, one of those apps posed as a harmless game, only to redirect users to an illegal betting site. Another used Candy Crush as a gateway to promote a gambling game called Plinko.

In a recent update, the KSA revealed that since the beginning of 2025, the regulator has already blocked 20 illegal gambling apps from app stores.

On the advertising segment, the KSA also issued a warning to Circus Gran Casino for featuring professional athletes who may appeal to younger viewers in its ads. The footage showed ice hockey players in team gear at the casino arcade, celebrating a win. The content was taken down quickly after the regulator stepped in.

Recently, KSA alerted Dutch newspapers over unlicensed gambling ads, once again reminding them that the gambling industry must remain fair transparent, and protect the public, especially the younger generation.
