New Jersey and UAE regulators enter strategic partnership

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has signed an international agreement with the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).
This new partnership was announced during Governor Phil Murphy’s economic visit to the Gulf Arab States, organized by Choose New Jersey.
Governor Phil Murphy stated:
“New Jersey’s role as a national leader and international destination for gaming is strengthened by global partnerships that drive innovation in an industry where consumers seek exciting experiences. The collaboration between the DGE and GCGRA will strengthen our international economy while prioritizing responsible gaming.”
Mary Jo Flaherty, interim director of New Jersey’s DGE, also expressed her enthusiasm on the cooperation in a statement:
“DGE has previously worked with several key GCGRA principals in the New Jersey regulated gaming industry and looks forward to ongoing collaboration under the MOU, emphasizing that New Jersey has been at the forefront of responsible gaming actions and initiatives.”
The partnership will keep its focus on cybersecurity, consumer protection, and other areas of regulatory collaboration, reflecting the UAE’s plans to grow into one of the world’s major gaming hubs.
Kevin Mullally, CEO of GCGRA, explained that Commercial gaming is seen by the UAE as essential to its objective of economic diversification:
“Commercial gaming is a key pillar of the UAE’s strategy for diversified economic growth, playing a significant role in driving tourism and attracting foreign investment. This moment represents a unique opportunity to align innovative technology with modern, collaborative regulation to unlock substantial economic potential while ensuring the highest standards of consumer protection.”
