With a newly signed agreement between Vietnam’s Recreational E-Sports Association (VIRESA) and Korea’s E-Sports Association (KeSPA), the two countries will strengthen their esports partnership.

The deal was signed during the KeSPA Global E-Sports Forum in Seoul on June 6-7 and aimed to help Vietnam develop a stronger esports industry and improve the performance of its national teams. Known for its success in esports, South Korea will share its expertise to support Vietnam’s growth.

VIRESA Chairman Đỗ Việt Hùng said:

“South Korea is one of the strongest teams in the esports community, with high results in competitions. We believe that with their experience, they have the ability to help Vietnamese esports reach our target.”

The esports cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea started back in 2021 when the two countries organized forums and friendly matches to boost their esports sectors. According to Vietnamese officials, this is an important step to prepare for major events like the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, the 2026 Asian Games, and the Olympic Esports Games in 2027.

The KeSPA Global E-Sports Forum was not about signing a partnership deal. The Forum also highlighted the regulatory importance of esports.

Vietnam is strictly monitoring the iGaming market. Back in 2024, the country announced that it would debut in 205 with new iGaming regulations.  South Korea doesn’t remain behind. Earlier, the country partnered with China against cross-border gambling.
