Centralized self-exclusion platform launched in Brazil

The Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) announced on December 10, 2025, that Brazil will officially launch a self-exclusion platform, where players will be able to exclude themselves from betting.

Previously, operators were the ones who had to offer self-exclusion measures, but now, the roles will be reversed, and bettors will have the ability to directly exclude themselves.

The platform was developed by the Federal Data Processing Service, and will let players register through the Gov.br portal. After successful registration, operators will receive a self-exclusion notice and have 72 hours to block the player from accessing their websites.

Operators must verify players’ self-exclusion status through Brazil’s betting management system, Sigap. As soon as an operator notices a user is flagged as “Blocked-Centralized Self-Exclusion”, the account has to be terminated, and any remaining balance must be returned to the player.

Additionally, operators won’t be able to send advertisements or notifications to blocked users. They will have 90 days to adjust betting systems to the self-exclusion tools.

Based on the duration of their betting activity, players can choose to receive alerts or session blocks. There’s also an option to temporarily pause an account, meaning it will still be accessible, but players won’t be able to place bets during that period.
