Dutch KSA to fine Winbet €840K for illegal operations

The KSA, or Kansspelautoriteit, an independent regulatory body in the Netherlands that oversees and regulates gambling activities within the country, will fine Winbet €840,000 if it doesn’t stop its illegal operations in the Netherlands.
The KSA found that users can sign up, create accounts, and take part in illegal gambling activities. The regulator states that Winbet needs to stop its operations and not offer online gambling options on four websites: Galaxy Spins, Winner Casino, SuperbBet, and Doctor Spins.
If not following the order, Winbet will receive the appropriate actions from the KSA’s side.
KSA said:
“No technical measures were taken on the sites to prevent participation from the Netherlands. The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players. The KSA, therefore, takes tough action against illegal supply. With an order subject to penalty, illegal supply is often quickly stopped. Providers can also be fined for the period in which the illegal supply was available.”
Winbet will receive weekly penalties of €280,000 till the maximum fine amount is hit.
KSA’s regulations
KSA keeps monitoring the gambling market in the Netherlands. Recently, the regulator announced the black market’s dominance after the new law from October 1, 2024, imposing a monthly deposit limit of €700, which is equal to $766. This law was aimed at promoting responsible gaming; however, it motivated gamblers to turn to the black market, which has no strict rules.
