A penalty of NZ$4.16 million has been imposed on SkyCity Casino Management by the High Court in New Zealand.

SkyCity Entertainment, founded in 1996, is a gambling and entertainment company based in Auckland, New Zealand. Talking about its Q2 results, the operator marked its $928.5m reach against the $955.2m it had in 2023. This reach of $928.5m is equal to NZ$959.6m.

The company received a new penalty of NZ$4.16 million for historic breaches of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.

CEO Jason Walbridge said:

“SkyCity is aware that, as a casino operator, we have a responsibility to combat money laundering and terrorism financing. This is a responsibility we take very seriously. We will continue to upgrade our anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing systems to ensure we meet both our regulatory obligations and the expectations of the communities in which we operate.”

Sky City has to pay the penalty within 15 days under the settlement agreement with the Department of Internal Affairs.
