The Spelinspektionen has published its latest quarterly report covering the Swedish gambling industry’s performance in Q2 2023.

The headline figure of the latest report was a 6.7 billion kronor total revenue, which remained steady when compared to the industry’s revenue of 6.77 billion kronor in the same quarter of last year, decreasing by only about 1%. When compared to the preceding quarter, however, the industry’s revenue grew by almost 2% from 6.58 billion kronor.

The majority of the industry’s revenue was generated by gambling and betting companies operating in the online vertical, which made just over 4.18 billion kronor in the second quarter of the year. The vertical also experienced a slight decrease similar to that of the overall industry, going down by just over 1% from last year’s 4.23 billion kronor.

The country’s national lottery and slot machines were up next, generating just under 1.4 billion kronor in revenue in the period, down from last year’s 1.42 billion kronor revenue. Charitable gambling services were in third place, generating 896 million kronor in the period and experiencing a slight increase from last year’s 870 million kronor revenue.

Additionally, the regulator also mentioned the statistics behind the country’s self-exclusion program, Spelpaus, which experienced a 1.4% increase in registered members year-over-year and had a bit more than 95 thousand users at the end of the quarter.
