Poker Palace Las Vegas to close, cutting out 126 workers

After operating for 50 years, Poker Palace Casino Las Vegas will close down on October 1, laying off 126 employees as part of the closure and planned sale.
On July 29, a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act letter revealed the closure, which was submitted to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and the Nevada Gaming Commission. According to the filing, the first round of job losses is expected to begin on September 30.
Poker Palace, located at 2757 N. Las Vegas Blvd, near Nellis Air Force Base, has operated under the name since 1974. The property was originally built in 1951 and operated as Bunny’s Bar before rebranding.
The casino currently has a 25,900-square-foot gaming floor with slot machines, table games, poker, bingo, and sports betting. It also includes a dining establishment, Maddy’s Paddy Cafe, named after the grandson of owners Marvin “Mickey” and Laura Coleman.
According to the WARN letter, the closure will affect 38 categories, including 10 poker dealers, 10 porters, and 10 security officers. The WARN statement said that the property is expected to be sold, but no additional information has been made public.
