It’s official: beginning from midnight on December 1, 2025, anyone over the age of 21 will be able to place bets at licensed locations in Missouri.

With the new changes, casinos have begun celebrations. Former St. Louis Rams quarterback Trent Green will make the first bet at Caesars Sportsbook, while Horseshoe Casino hired 12 new employees for their new betting areas.

Glenn Keenan, the casino’s senior vice president and general manager, said:

“That’s part of the launch. Showing you how the app works, showing you how the kiosks work… make a bet at the front counter. Our team members are actually trained. They’re very knowledgeable about our app and the way the sportsbook works.”

After Missouri’s six major sports teams contributed $2 million to the legalization campaign, they will now also have the chance to operate sportsbooks. The teams will control on-site betting and advertising within 366 meters of their stadiums. They have also started partnerships with operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, and Underdog.

St. Louis Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III noted:

“Joining the 38 other states that already allow sports betting will allow us to further engage with our fans while keeping tens of millions in Missouri for the benefit of our classrooms and communities.”

With this change,  the state has placed a 10% tax on gambling revenue. Missouri plans to spend at least $5 million from the tax revenue on problem gambling programs and the rest on primary, secondary, and higher education.
