KSA requests Dutch casino sponsorship details ahead of ban

Prior to imposing a ban on sponsorship agreements, KSA has requested information from internet casinos on their sponsorship arrangements.

Their inquiries center on the dates, durations, and nature of the transactions.

Operators are required to provide this data to the KSA by March 29, 2024. They seek information regarding sports sponsorships, such as the type of sponsorship (i.e., on a shirt or in a stadium) and if the agreement is with a team, stadium, or other entity. When it comes to media sponsorships, people are interested in knowing the kind of media (such as radio or TV) and the frequency of the advertisement.

Regarding event sponsorships, the KSA requests information on the event, its date, and the nature of the marketing. They also want to know if the contract includes safeguards against singled out vulnerable groups and if it permits the casino to communicate with fans or followers.

Certain types of advertising, such as those on streaming services, social media, direct mail, and online gaming platforms, are still permitted in the Netherlands even though the majority of gambling-related advertisements are prohibited.
