Pauline Hot becomes new director general at ANJ

L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), the French gambling regulator, has appointed a new director general, Pauline Hot, who replaces the departing Remi Lataste.

Remi Lataste announced his departure last week after 5 years in the position. In five years, they have built the foundations of impactful regulation, shifting the lines on the various missions entrusted to the ANJ, in particular:

  • Protecting minors and preventing excessive gambling.
  • Fighting against money laundering, illegal supply, and sports manipulation.
  • Pivoting the rapidly changing gambling market.

Lataste shared via LinkedIn post:

“We have carried out an ambitious regulatory project, based on the federation of the energies of an entire ecosystem, and an innovative approach to think differently about problems and solutions. But above all, nothing would have been possible without the exceptional human collective of the ANJ. Extraordinary women and men from different backgrounds, committed, demanding, and creative. An organized team that upholds the missions entrusted to it and the values of public service. Pride and gratitude.

A huge thank you to all those – within the ANJ or among our various institutional partners – who have made these five years as exciting as they are useful. Long live the ANJ, which, I am certain, will go even higher, even stronger, even further.”

Pauline Hot has been Deputy Director General of ANJ since January. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure and the École Nationale d’Administration (Hannah Arendt Class), Pauline Hot has been an auditor since 2020, then a master of requests at the Council of State. There, she served as rapporteur to the 6th chamber of the litigation section and the administration section.

In addition,  two new members of the college were appointed by decree, replacing the members whose mandate ended in June 2024. They are  Justine Atlan, Director of the e-Enfance Association, and Olivia Petit Associate Professor at Kedge Business School and director of research expertise on Sensory and Experiential Marketing.
