Caesars Virginia takes the crown with $28.5M in revenues

Caesars reports a good start to 2025 with more than $28.5 million in revenue during its first full month of operation of Caesars Virginia casino resort in Danville.
Virginia has only three land-based casinos, and with more than 90,000 square feet of gaming space, including approximately 1,500 slot machines, 79 table games, 48 electronic table games, a dedicated WSOP poker room, and a Caesars Sportsbook, the 587,000-square-foot Caesars Virginia surpassed the rest despite being opened only on December 17, 2024.
In January 2025, slot machines generated nearly $21.4 million, while table games brought in $7.2 million. Across Virginia, total casino revenue reached $72.3 million for the month. Hard Rock Bristol generated about $18.5 million, and Rivers Casino Portsmouth brought in $25.2 million.
Gaming taxes fuel the revenue
Part of this revenue goes to local communities through gaming taxes. In Danville, gaming tax revenue reached nearly $1.7 million, which is a slight decline from December’s $2 million. Still, the city expects to see an additional $35 to $40 million in tax revenue by the end of the casino resort’s first full year.
In Southwest Virginia, the Hard Rock Bristol casino distributed $1.1 million in gaming tax revenue to 14 localities, while Rivers Casino Portsmouth contributed approximately $1.5 million to its host city. This money helps fund local services and infrastructure projects, benefiting the surrounding communities.
