MGM CEO to serve as Chair of US Travel Association

The US Travel Association, a national, non-profit organization representing and advocating for all components of the travel industry, named MGM President and CEO William Hornbuckle as the association’s new national chair.

In this new role, Hornbuckle will serve a two-year term, guiding the board on key industry priorities and focusing on major upcoming events like the 2025 Ryder Cup, 2026 World Cup, and 2028 Summer Olympics. He will closely work with US Travel’s leadership team to boost tourism in the country.

The US Travel Association has more than 980 organizations in the industry, ranging from travel companies to businesses nationwide. Its board consists of 30 members who help shape policies and strategies, along with a broader group of delegates who offer support and insights.

Hornbuckle expressed his excitement about taking on the role:

“We are entering a period of once-in-a-lifetime events and opportunities unlike anything our country has seen in recent years. I’m proud to join this storied organization and look forward to helping the industry and the country succeed.”

Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the US Travel Association, said:

“Bill’s prior leadership of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board provides him a unique understanding of key issues and the levers that need to be pulled to achieve success in Washington.”

Freeman also expressed his gratitude to Nassetta for his leadership and contributions, due to which the association recorded a significant growth.
