Pennsylvania’s gaming market hits $529.1M in January

Pennsylvania’s gaming market hit $529.1 million in January, a 10.9% increase compared to January 2024’s $477.2 million, though it fell slightly short of December’s $533.1 million by 0.8%.
iGaming took the crown with $210.2 million, which is an increase of 40.5% when compared to January 2024. However, it still did not surpass 2024’s December record of $223.6 million. Online slots generated $158.6 million, up 44.2%, while internet table games brought in $48.9 million, an increase of 32.7%. Online poker saw a slight decline of 2.3% to $2.6 million.
Player spending
Players bet $4.23 billion on online slots and $2.92 billion on table games. Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the market, earning $79.7 million, up 57.9% from last year. Valley Forge Casino and Rivers Casino Philadelphia followed with revenues of $57.6 million and $35.4 million, respectively.
Sports betting
Sports betting revenues for January dropped 26.4% to $51.5 million. This decline shows a trend seen across several states, with favorable sports results for customers. Online sports betting revenue totaled $49.2 million, and retail sports betting was $2.3 million. FanDuel partnered with Valley Forge and continued to dominate, generating $28.8 million in taxable revenue from $342.3 million in bets.
Land-based gambling
Slot machine revenue rose 4.6% to $187.8 million, while table games grew 1.5% to $73.7 million. Overall, the state collected $221.6 million in gaming taxes.
