FDJ strenghtens leadership with former Kindred CEO

French lottery giant La Française des Jeux, FDJ, announced the appointment of Kindred’s former CEO Nils Andén as its new Executive Director of Online Betting and Gaming.
In his new role, Nils Andén will lead the company’s online betting and gaming division, managing everything from sports and horse-race betting to poker and online casino operations.
FDJ’s online division will be one of four key business units in the company’s new structure with French lottery and retail sports betting, international lottery, and payments and services.
The company commented:
“FDJ Group’s acquisition of Kindred creates a European champion with a diversified, balanced profile, underpinned by businesses under exclusive rights—chiefly the lottery in France and Ireland—and businesses open to competition in the European online betting and gaming market. The group’s new operating model highlights the digitalisation, diversification, and globalisation of its activities. It represents the newest phase in the organisational transformation of the group, which is now present in nearly 15 countries.”
FDJ acquired Kindred back in October 2024, and despite positive results, Kindred’s integration comes with its own set of challenges, particularly in managing costs and achieving synergies. With tax pressures expected to rise in 2025 across key markets like France, Sweden, and the Netherlands, the expanded business will need to carefully navigate these financial hurdles.
