The Star Group’s John O’Neill leaves his position

John O’Neill is resigning from his role as executive chairperson of The Star Entertainment Group.

The statement was made by the ASX and came prior to O’Neill’s testimony about The Star’s Sydney casino next week.

He took on the role of chairperson earlier in April, as M. Bekier replacement. .

Though O’Neill was in that role temporarily as was taking care of all the responsibilities, before finding someone permanent, he still made the decision to leave. The Star was planning to find someone from Spencer Stuart.

The Star Group announced:

“O’Neill is not only resigning from his role but he is also going to leave the board. He told all his fellow directors about his decision. He will pass all of his duties in an orderly manner.”

Later they added that temporary arrangements will be announced after their completion.

O’Neill’s departure date still needs to be decided.
