POGO Mayor faces additional charges for illegal gambling link

POGO Mayor Alice Guo is anticipated to face more charges as she is accused of helping illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) hubs, according to the country’s Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

Guo and others were the subject of a complaint filed on Friday by the PAOCC and the Philippine National Police—Criminal Investigation and Detection Group —for allegedly engaging in human trafficking that was connected to the POGO hub that was raided in her municipality.

The PAOCC’s Winston John Casio claimed that more accusations against the troubled mayor were being prepared. This time, she is accused of being a part of the illegal POGO complex that was raided in Porac, Pampanga.

During a televised Bagong Pilipinas public briefing, Casio stated:

“We are currently preparing additional cases this week, possibly extending into next week. Once we have completed all documentary requirements, including the complaint affidavit, we will file the case with the DOJ (Department of Justice).”

Additionally, Casio underlined that Guo’s involvement in their operations is established by digital footprints and paper trails from raided POGO hubs in Porac and Bamban.

He added:

“Since charges have already been filed against her in Bamban, there’s a possibility of additional charges being filed against Mayor Guo in connection with the Porac POGO or in relation to the Bamban case.”
