Blue Cross to operate Lotteritilsynet’s gambling helpline
Lotteritilsynet has recently partnered with Blue Cross Norway to operate its gambling helpline.
The Norwegian gambling authority’s helpline has been providing local gamblers with support for quite some time, taking more than 800 calls last year and experiencing a steady amount of growth. The helpline is currently operated by a health trust, Sykehuset Innlandet, which has announced earlier in the year that it no longer wishes to be responsible for the helpline.
Because of this, Lotteritilsynet has entered into a partnership with the Norwegian Blue Cross, through which the latter will soon be taking over the operations of the helpline at the beginning of next year. The organization specializes in providing assistance to those affected by a wide variety of addictions, including relating to gambling.
Through this partnership, the organization will be enhancing its efforts toward supporting people with gambling addictions by establishing a new program specifically tailored to the issue. Blue Cross will not only operate Lotteritilsynet’s helpline but will also be responsible for providing problem gamblers with assistance and treatment services.
Lastly, the regulator mentioned that about 23 thousand gamblers have problems relating to the pastime in Norway, which the gambling helpline will be providing assistance to.
