GamCare establishes gambling treatment program
From now on GamCare will provide support not only across the UK, but also internationally.
“Trained Associate Model” is an example for non-UK organizations to educate on how to deliver help to people with gambling problems.
The Model also provides training and it includes examples of treatment and needed special tools.
The model is available for all the non-UK organizations that offer social services. According to them the model is intended for those who are trying to help anyone with gambling problems.
Anyone who wants to become part of the GamCare team, needs to be “deemed suitable” by the organization, as they want to make sure that they have appropriate skills to provide all needed social services.
After becoming “Trained Associate”, charities do not sign any contracts with GamCare and maintain independence.
At this moment GamCare has 161 centers across the UK and treats more than ten thousand people. It was reported that after taking part in training courses 85% of professionals now have a better understanding of the gambling problems.
Motiv8, who not only helps with gambling addiction but also drugs and alcohol, was the 1st organization to receive the training.
“We are happy about our partnership with GamCare, as it allows Motiv8 to provide help for individuals and their families.”
said Motiv8’s chief executive officer Thea Ozenturk.
So programs like this are very much needed not only in the UK, but also beyond it.
