China maintains strict measures on cross-border gambling

China’s Supreme Court has issued a new order, requiring all courts nationwide to continue imposing strict penalties on those involved in cross-border gambling.

China aims to get rid of crimes such as intentional killings that are directly linked to gambling. Rapid economic growth and internet advancements have made it easier for overseas casinos to attract Chinese citizens into gambling.

In one case, a ringleader surnamed Wu was sentenced to six years in prison for organizing gambling operations in Macau that earned more than 300 million yuan from local residents. As a result, he received sentences of up to three years.

The Supreme Court stated:

“Wu should be given severe punishment, as his actions resulted in significant capital outflow. Gambling not only results in financial losses and broken families but also fosters other forms of violent crimes.”

Gambling is not only about fun. A tragic example from Guangxirom shows the real dangers that come with gambling habits. A gambler with a lot of debt from online gambling came up with a plan to rent out a market stall that he didn’t even own. He tricked someone into paying 40,000 yuan.

When finding out the truth, they confront Tang. Instead of owning up to it, Tang did something terrible. He made a homemade gun, lured the person to a cave, and killed them. The Supreme Court’s new order highlights the need to strictly monitor the market and protect its citizens from the consequences of gambling addiction.
