GambleAware has recently opened applications for a funding assistance program for gambling charities.

The initiative was launched with the aim of assisting various gambling charitable organizations throughout the UK’s transition from voluntary RET funding to a mandatory tax, which could temporarily disrupt the operations of various smaller charities. GambleAware will be allocating the funds it receives from the regulatory settlements of the Gambling Commission for this new program.

GambleAware has highlighted a set of guidelines that charities will be required to be in line with to be eligible for the program, which includes being able to increase gambling harm awareness, reduce the negative effects of harm in vulnerable people, and prevent harm from escalating. The requirements mention that applying organizations will also be required to provide proof that they need funding assistance, along with demonstrating their delivery methods, impact, and operating sustainability.

The first set of applications for the program will begin on the 7th of August and will last till the 21st of the month. Charities will be informed of the status of their applications in September, while the funding will be supporting them throughout the remainder of the 2023/24 financial year ending at the beginning of April next year.
