The charities GamCare and education YGAM and Fast Forward have developed a new structure to help government agencies raise awareness among youngsters about the dangers of gambling and disorders.

“Fundamentals of Gambling Education” is a joint reference document compiled by charitable organizations to assist all those who work with youngster in the form of a set of evidence-based principles to ensure effective gambling education.

The structure was developed based on the analysis of research and data related to effective preventive education, and aims to formulate conclusions, recommendations and principles that should guide their work.

GamCare and partners stressed that the document was compiled based on evidence-based principles, without industry funding or influence.

“The framework is formed from our work with youth and emphasizes the necessity for evidence-based solutions that are simple, accessible and scalable. It is going to help professionals raise the topic about the dangers of gambling and make sure that education on this problem is in line with knowledge about other types of risky behavior.”

explained Anna Hemmings, the chief executive officer of GamCare.

By developing the framework, the researchers acknowledge the reality that youngsters tend to experience with risky behaviors such as smoking and alcohol.

The advice provided aims to develop the ideas of young people in a spirit of cooperation and without patronage.

“The framework is a practical resource for stopping the gambling harm. We can leverage our impact by sharing best practices, sharing knowledge and insights, and collaborating.”

said Dr Jane Rigbye, the chief executive officer of YGAM.

“It is extremely important to apply an evidence-based approach to harm prevention.”

added Allie Cherry-Byrnes, the chief executive officer of Fast Forward.
