Parimatch gathers over 25k signatures on sanction petition
Parimatch has recently gathered more than 25 thousand signatures on a petition to reverse its sanctions.
Back in March, the Ukrainian government imposed sanctions on more than 250 companies and 100 individuals for their ties with Russia, which included the gambling operator Parimatch. The sanctions were implemented as part of a special decree presented by the Ukrainian national defense council and signed by President Zelensky, through which the operator was banned from doing business in the country for half a century.
The company responded to the announcement at the time by suspending its operations in Ukraine, after which it published a statement on the matter, claiming that certain information that drove the sanctioning decision was falsified. About a month ago, Parimatch launched a petition in the country, appealing the government’s decision in hopes to restore its Ukrainian operations.
Recently, the petition surpassed 25 thousand signatures, the threshold which petitions need to reach to be reviewed by the president of the country. This means will be able to initiate a review to reverse the sanctions on the company if the government deems them unlawful or unjust. Zelensky’s final decision should be published within the next 10 days.
